The President of the Assembly of States Parties meets with the United Nations Secretary-General in New York

On 2 March 2017, the President of the Assembly of States Parties, Mr. Sidiki Kaba, met with the United Nations Secretary-General Mr. António Guterres, in the presence of the Deputy Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations, Ambassador Gorgui Ciss. This event marks their first meeting since the Secretary-General took office on 1 January 2017.

President Kaba and Secretary-General Guterres held a constructive discussion on a number of matters of mutual interest pertaining to the International Criminal Court, including cooperation which is based on the 2004 Relationship Agreement between the International Criminal Court and the United Nations. The Secretary-General reiterated the commitment of the United Nations to the principles of the Rome Statute, the founding treaty of the Court, and strengthening the relation between the United Nations and the International Criminal Court. President Kaba expressed the appreciation of the Assembly and his own for the support provided by the United Nations to the International Criminal Court.
