ICC - Press Release : Assembly of States Parties elects six members of the Committee on Budget and Finance

At the 4th meeting, on 7 December 2007, of the sixth session of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (“the Assembly”), the Assembly elected six members of the Committee on Budget and Finance:

  • Mr. David Banyanka (Burundi)
  • Ms. Carolina María Fernández Opazo (Mexico)
  • Mr. Gilles Finkelstein (France)
  • Mr. Juhanni Lemmik (Estonia)
  • Mr. Gerd Saupe (Germany)
  • Mr. Ugo Sessi (Italy)

The term of office of three years begins to run for each member of the Committee from 21 April 2008.

The Committee on Budget and Finance which is composed of 12 members, was established by resolution ICC-ASP/1/Res.4. It is responsible for the technical examination of any document submitted to the Assembly that contains financial or budgetary implications or any other matter of financial, budgetary or administrative nature, as may be entrusted to it by the Assembly of States Parties. The members of the Committee are experts of recognized standing and experience in financial matters at the international level from States Parties. They carry out their duties for three calendar years and may be re-elected.
