ICC - Resignation of Mr. Mohamed Shahabuddeen

Mr. Mohamed Shahabuddeen (Guyana) submitted his resignation from the International Criminal Court for personal reasons on16 February 2009. Mr. Shahabudden had been elected by the Assembly of States Parties in January 2009 for a nine year term of office as a judge, scheduled to commence on 11 March. The President of the Assembly, Ambassador Christian Wenaweser, has accepted the resignation on behalf of the States Parties.
   
In accordance with resolution ICC-ASP/3/Res.6, the Bureau of the Assembly of States Parties shall fix the venue and date of the election to fill the vacancy left by the resignation.
