The purpose of this meeting will be to continue our discussions on the provisional amendments to rule 165 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence. During the meeting I intend to continue soliciting views on the substance of the amendments and on the procedural questions that have been raised in connection with the amendments. I kindly ask that delegations prepare accordingly, bearing in mind the limited time available before the WGA should finalize its report to the ASP (tentatively 28 October).
We are pleased to inform that the principal Legal Adviser to the Presidency of the Court, Mr. Hirad Abtahi, will attend the consultations via video link from The Hague. Mr. Abtahai will inform the WGA about the background and rationale for the judges' decision to amend rule 165 as well as answering questions from States and civil society.
A light lunch will be served.
