KAMPALA AMENDMENTS: Brazil has initiated the procedures for the incorporation of the Kampala amendments on the crime of aggression in its legal system.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ROME STATUTE: The bill 4038, proposed in 2008, has two main goals: facilitate the cooperation with the ICC and enable the exercise of primary jurisdiction in Brazil, under the principle of complementarity. In the same year, the Committee of Constitution and Justice of the Chamber of Deputies approved a substitute bill to the bill 4038. Technically, both bills are suitable for achieving the goals above mentioned. After being approved by the Cham ber of Deputies, the bill goes ta Senate approval. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is tracking ail the procedures for the bill's approval.
